Dong Quai

Dong Quai (Angelica Sinensis), also known as ‘Female Ginseng’, is a perennial herb native to Southwestern China and has been used in Chinese cultures for thousands of years.

Best known for its hormone balancing effects, Dong Quai has a particular affinity with the female reproductive system. It is used to help with PMS symptoms and painful menstruation, and is believed to provide support during Menopause by regulating oestrogen levels and may also increase bone density.  Dong Quai is also a well known aphrodisiac and fertility booster for both sexes.

Due to its powerful anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial effects, Dong Quai has been shown to help improve skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema, and is believed to help keep skin healthy and youthful.  Studies have shown that Dong Quai has cardiovascular protective qualities; it was traditionally used to enrich the blood and improve circulation.  It may also be effective at reducing cholesterol and high blood pressure, and support the management of blood sugar levels.
